Weak ass girls

What happened to my super strong female friends? Since when are (the majority of) my girl friends become so dependent on men? When did I start accepting that my friends are the kind of girls that will like a guy and date him just because he shows interest? WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING TO SOUTHERN MAINE?!

I'm totally skipping over Portland. Time to move on to Boston.

(note: to my super strong female friends- stay strong)

Brand New

So last night, Nora and I went to Hampton Beach to see Brand New perform at the Casino Ballroom. Both of us are extremely devoted Brand New fans who have each seen Brand New only once (at least I had only seem them once, I'm pretty sure Nora said this was her second B.N. show). For each of us, the shows we had seen them perform were both horrible. When I saw them, they were at UMaine with Dashboard Confessional (those two reasons alone are what I blame their less than stellar performance on).

The entire trip, Nora and I discussed the upcoming show and how we were preparing ourselves for it to be solely newer music that we weren't as familiar with or that they wouldn't be great, again.

However, we were mistaken. The show last night was better than I imagined that they could be. They started with a lot of songs from Daisy, but then filtered in every other album. It was AWESOME.

The setlist was:

1- Sink (Daisy)
2- Vices (Daisy)
3- Gasoline (Daisy)
4- Sowing Season/Yeah (Fight Off Your Demons) (Yes, it was the ORIGINAL Sowing Season!)
5- Bought a Bride (Daisy)
6- The Archers Bows Have Broken (The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me)
7- Okay, I Believe You, But My Tommy Gun Don't (Deja Entendu)
8- Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades (Deja Entendu)
9- Seventy times 7 (Your Favorite Weapon)
10- You Stole (Dasiy) (I am pretty sure this was the song played here)
11- At The Bottom (Daisy)
12- Jesus Christ (The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me)
13- Degausser (The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me)
14- You Won't Know (The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me)
15- Play Crack the Sky (Deja Entendu)
16- Jude Law and a Semester Abroad (Your Favorite Weapon)

I was EXTRMELY surprised when they played songs from 'Your Favorite Weapon'. I also may have teared up during 'Play Crack the Sky'.

Needless to say, my faith in Brand New performances and Jesse Lacey has been restored.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder?

I'm sorry that I haven't been around lately.

My mother is the theatre coach at my old high school. Every year, they compete in the One Act Festival. I participated while in high school and since I graduated in 2003, I've helped her out every year. This year, since I was around full time, I was able to really lend a hand. I was in charge of hair and makeup for the actors. I also helped out a lot with the tech and gave the actresses some pointers. It was a great time and the team ended up getting 2nd place at regionals.

As fun as it was, I'm glad it's over. It took up so much of my time. I'm hoping to get back into blogging and vlogging more frequently now. Here's hoping!

Dirrrrrrty Water

Red Sox manager Terry Francona on what Dustin Pedroia is doing right now: "Probably standing in front of mirror, flexing muscles, talking trash."

That just made my day. Pitchers and catchers report to Ft. Meyers in 34 days. AHHh!

Best Face Forward

So I entered another youtube contest last night, out of boredom. It was by TBFLIRTIN and the theme was "Put your best face forward for 2010". Pictures don't do it justice, really. Ugh.

But this is what I came up with:

Facebook Soap Operas or just TMI?

Alright. I love facebook. Always have. It's a fun tool to find old friends, keep in touch, and a good cure for boredom. However, I'm very very tired of reading all of the personal dramas people post in their status updates.

It's one thing to post emo song lyrics; I know I'm known for doing that. I'm okay with people posting general updates. What drives me crazy is when I read about every moment of some drama that is going on that I ultimately don't care about.

Examples:
-A girl, whose dumbass brother is in jail, complains that everyone thinks he's a bad guy and how she's tired of people picking on her and her "awesome big brother". Dude, your brother went to jail because he was mailing marijuana across the country. He's not that awesome. Also, he's known for the cheating he does. So if someone makes a comment on him being a cheater, it's probably because it's true. In any case, please do not fill 5 status updates in 10 minutes with your bitching about every detail of it.

-A girl is obsessed with her boyfriend. I have at least 2 friends on facebook who fall into this category. One will put up a "normal" status about what's up for the day and then will add "[I love youuuuu]" or something equally ridiculous. The other will post 10 updates in an hour about how she's upset because he hasn't called and how she'd rather be in his arms and how she misses him, la de freakin da. I don't care about your relationship. If you want to be all mushy, that's great. Write it on their wall. Send it in a personal message. THE REST OF THE WORLD DOES NOT CARE, NOR DO WE WANT TO READ IT.

So please. Stop posting too much information in your statuses. No one cares.

Masculinity?

Whatever happened to masculine guys? I'm really tired of these whiny pansy-ass boys running around all over the place. Not that I think we should all fall into gender stereotypes, but this is ridiculous.
